Five years after a bowling alley was first announced for Essex Crossing, the finish line is “so soon.”

The Lower East Side iteration of The Gutter (aka The Gutter L.E.S.) – it’s based in Long Island City – is opening imminently, according to the Essex Crossing Instagram.

It’s a 12-lane bowling alley occupying roughly 17,000 square-feet on the lower level of the fourteen-story development at Site 1. Entrance is on Essex Street, where customers walk into a 500 square-foot lobby that leads downstairs to the main event. It sports a retro “mid-America/mid-Century basement feel” with all-wood lanes. Like its other locations, materials were sourced from an as-yet-unknown shuttered bowling alley.

There is also a 100-foot circular bar and full Italian restaurant and that serves Neopolitan-style pizza, as well as hosting live shows (although ownership denies it’ll become a music venue).
