The Market Line + Essex Market
For over 75 years, the well-known Essex Market has been providing the Lower East Side with fresh, quality and affordable food as a mission-driven public market with a defined civic purpose. This neighborhood staple will remain intact, but a new player in the grub game is about to join forces.
Opening in 2019, The Market Line is an expansive, bazaar-like marketplace running three city blocks along Broome Street as a pivotal part of the Essex Crossing project in the Lower East Side. The Market Line merges an eclectic mix of more than 100 locally-sourced food, art, music and fashion vendors reflecting the unique character and culture of the L.E.S. Upon completion, The Market Line will be the largest market in New York City and one of the largest in the world with 150,000 square feet of culinary treasures.
